Weight & Eating Habits

Most people who come to see Paul have already tried. They’ve counted calories, cut carbs, tracked macros, and downloaded the apps. They know what they’re supposed to eat. What they can’t figure out is why they’re standing in front of the pantry at 10 pm when they aren’t even hungry. That’s exactly the kind of pattern we work on together.

The problem isn’t information. The problem is that the part of your mind running your eating habits isn’t listening to the part that knows better. Hypnotherapy works with the deeper habit patterns that don’t automatically change just because you know what you should do.

What We Actually Work On

This isn’t a diet program, and there are no forbidden foods. What we work on is the specific places where you get stuck — the patterns, triggers, and habits that keep pulling you off course despite your best intentions.

That might look like learning to recognize fullness before you’ve gone too far. Or breaking the automatic connection between a stressful day and the need for comfort food. Or shifting your relationship with grocery shopping, meal preparation, and portion sizes so that better choices start to feel like second nature rather than a constant negotiation with yourself.

Most clients are working on some combination of habits around what they eat, how much they eat, how they shop, and how they prepare food. We focus on your specific pattern — not a generic program.

Why Willpower Alone Isn’t Enough

If logic and discipline were enough, you’d already be at your goal. The challenge is that your subconscious mind has been running the same script for years — and it doesn’t update just because you decide to eat better. Hypnotherapy works directly with that deeper layer, helping to install new patterns so that the healthier choice starts to feel less like a battle and more like a natural preference.

The goal isn’t effortless weight loss. It’s lowering the difficulty of the process, so your goals stay within reach.

Is the 3-Session Program Right for You?

For most people, a focused three-session suggestion program is the right place to start. We work on your habits, your triggers, and your relationship with food at a behavioral level — and most clients find that meaningful.

However, if any of the following apply, deeper work may serve you better:

  • Food is one of several patterns you struggle with. If overeating shows up alongside other addictive-type habits you’ve had difficulty breaking — smoking, drinking, shopping, gambling, or others — that’s often a sign that something deeper is driving the pattern. Suggestion sessions work on the behavior. Exploratory / Advanced hypnotherapy works on the underlying patterns that may be reinforcing the behavior.
  • Your relationship with food is tied to a difficult period in your life — a time of prolonged stress, loss, or trauma when eating became a way to cope.

Paul will help you identify which path makes sense during your consultation.

A Note on Weight Loss Medications

If you are currently using or transitioning off a GLP-1 medication such as Ozempic or Wegovy, hypnotherapy can be a valuable companion. The medication changes your appetite — but the habits, patterns, and emotional connections around food don’t change automatically. Building those mental habits is what makes the results last.

If you’ve experienced the rebound effect after stopping one of these medications — or want to get ahead of it before you transition off — this is exactly the kind of pattern work hypnotherapy is designed to address. The medication can suppress appetite. Hypnotherapy works on the underlying habits so the results have somewhere to stick.
